With the czech architectonic studio Len+k archititekti s.r.o. I had opportunity to be intensively involved in the design competition for Amazonia Pavilion at Prague ZOO. The competition issue was conversion of old Pavilion of big mammals and neighbouring areas to one thematic unit “Amazonia“. Proposal was influenced by mount of restrictions. The most important was to design water protection

(area is situated in floodplain), keep the old inconvenient structure as much as possible and limited budget.
Due to terrain conditions of Prague ZOO is roof of the pavilion highly visually exposed for visitors. Concept of the pavilion is based on the compact green roof with fluent transition to terrain at the northern part of area. For the lightening of the interior spaces are used skylights, which are created from hyperbolic surfaces (straight line surfaces) and keep the conditions of economical feasibility.

Project won 1.price (second price was not awarded).
